Summer Skincare Routine
Skincare is very much on my mind all the time, it has been enhanced during this lovely quarantine. I have pale Irish skin which isn't exactly the genetic lottery on how it ages... I am very concerned with reducing fine lines, keeping an even skintone, reducing dark circles under my eyes and protecting my skin.
As the seasons and weather change, your skin needs different things. Since I am in the NYC area during the summer, it gets super hot and humid here! When it gets like that, you should be changing your lotion based products to more gel or oil based products! If you havent read my Quarantine Skincare Routine, it gives you a sense of the normal products I use for reference. You should also keep in mind, that I really like trying new products to see what works best for my skin. Here is how i'm switching up my routine a bit for the sweatier months.
Most of my skin work goes into the products I use at night.

Of course, like any other night, I need to wash the day off my face. I flip between the Drunk Elephant Jelly Cleanser or the Neutrogina Hydro Boost. I think they both do a great job literally taking the day off your face without drying it out. I know in the head and gross times its so easy to want to dry your face out, by all means do not do that. At night you want to replenish your skin and build it back up.
Overall, since the weather is shifting, I shifted to a water/gel based overall hydrator to put on my face each night. I was lucky enough to finish up my other night lotion just as the weather was changing so that wasn't a big deal. This go round, I decided to go with the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, this is exclusive to Sephora. This is a gel based solution that will help with dryness, dullness / uneven texture and fine lines. I really like how a little goes a long way with this product.
I clearly need some anti aging action as well, for that I use three different products. The first I dab on a bit of the under-eye solution. I have dark under-eye circles so I am in constant search for a great product. Right now I am using the OleHenriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream. I put this on every morning and evening, apparently this vitamin C packed product will help reduce the look of dark circles and brighten under my eyes... For my overall face and neck anti aging, I started using the Sunday Riley Luna Retinol sleeping Oil and the Farmacy Honeymoon Glow. Sunday Riley Luna Retinol Sleeping Oil is supposed to help the skin look plumper, reduce the look of lines and large pores. Farmacy Honeymoon Glow is a three in one that should help hydrate, clarify and resurface skin. Overall, I have only been using these for two weeks so you wouldn't see results for about a month. I am happy so far, my skin has seemed nice and plump (in a good way) in the mornings, feels great and I haven't seen any negative effects of it.
To be honest when I apply the products I probably do it in a bit of an odd way. Typically, I will dab the under-eye cream on and while it soaks in I'll put on my GrandeLash MD. Then, I put a bit of the honeymoon glow & Luna sleeping oil in my hands rub it all together then put it all over my face, while that is sinking in I normally brush my teeth then layer on the Laneige sleeping mask. Lastly, I keep the lip sleeping mask on my nightstand so I will put that on as I am literally sitting in bed ready to catch my zzz's.
For my morning skincare routine... Not a whole lot changes. I still get up every morning and wash my face with the OleHenriksen The Clean Truth Foaming Cleanser. I just like the way it makes my face feel and how it smells nice and citrusy. After I pat my face dry, I add my Banana Bright eye-cream, and start to layer on my the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40, its a gel based moisturizer with SPF. With that, I mix in the Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum & sometimes a few drops of the Isle of Paradise Tanning Drops!
All in all, everyones skin is different but you need to be sure in these months you are protecting your skin from the sun as well as switching to a gel based moisturizer at night. Let me know what some of your favorite summer products are!
